As the strength and conditioning intern you are to be in attendance of every workout. There are two workouts a day from 7am-9am and 3pm-5pm. This is to accomodate athletes summer work schedules as they must show up to at least one training a day Monday- Thursday. On average there is 6-10 athletes that show up each workout. The workout begins at the St. Vincent Complex where warm-up/conditioning will take place and last up to 25-40 minutes. After running athletes transpot to the Wellness Recreation Center for the resitance training part of the workout. Workouts are different depending on the day of the week which may include bench press, deadlift, box jump, hang clean, single arm row, and front squat. The wieghtroom is to be reorganized after every workout to make sure the power racks are neat and unison along with the dumbells in proper order. In between sessions I usually get food, rest up and complete my own workout.
I started the yoga sessions as apart of my project and it grew much popularity. It is twice a week on an hour duration. This was from the second half of summer until the end of the internship.
Prospect camp was on June 25th and brought in over 40+ highschoolers from around the country. Nearly an all night event which I had to set up and breakdown. Unfortunately rain played a factor so last minute we had to transfer the event from St. Vincent Facility to the Ambrose Dome on Brady St.
